Central air conditioners and heat pumps are designed to cool the entire house.
In each system, a large compressor unit located outside drives the process; an indoor coil filled with refrigerant cools air that is then distributed throughout the house via ducts. Heat pumps are like central air conditioners, except that the cycle can be reversed and used for heating during the winter months. With a central air conditioner, the same duct system is used with a furnace for forced warm-air heating. In fact, the central air conditioner typically uses the furnace fan to distribute air to the ducts.
Air conditioners built in the past few years have become very efficient, potentially saving hundreds of dollars per year in utility costs. Modern air conditioners also run quieter and are long lasting. If you’re thinking about replacing your air conditioner, talk to an A/C Works’ technician today.
Efficient Gas Furnaces
20 Year Warranty*
Keep the pesky cold out and the comfort in with our efficient gas furnaces. Our best models feature a variable-speed blower motor and two-stage gas heat performance that, together, deliver temperature control and quiet performance. The variable-speed blower also means you’ll enjoy better summer dehumidification from your cooling unit, and you might even get a SEER* boost as well. Pair it with a compatible air conditioner for a fully communicating system using the Ion™ System Control.
State-of-the-art electronic controls monitor system operation and allow for faster, easier system diagnostics.

Two-stage redundant gas valve, two-speed induced draft blower, and variable-speed high-efficiency ECM blower motor smoothly modulate up or down when more or less heat is needed. The VS 80 is also compatible with two-stage cooling, and its advanced dehumidification capability can reduce additional moisture in the air when you add a humidity-sensing thermostat to your system.
Solid pre-painted steel insulated cabinet with tight-fit door latch system, blower motor isolated behind a sealed door, and soft-mount rubber gaskets on key components lower operating sounds.
Temperature limit control, reliable gas valve and induced draft motor plus a patented draft safety switch that shuts off the furnace if a vent blockage is detected.
